
Ela Tokay is an environmental philosopher and writer based in New York City. She received her PhD in Philosophy from Fordham University in 2023 and is currently an Assistant Professor at SUNY Old Westbury. She is also a Fellow at Old Westbury’s Social and Environmental Justice Institute, where she helps to develop and bring environmental justice programming to the campus. Her work, both academic and creative, investigates the philosophical, conceptual, and normative dimensions of ecological crises in order to better understand the kinds of tools needed to build more collaborative and sustainable worlds. Her interests converge at the intersection of ecofeminism, feminist new materialism, and conservation ethics, and her work has been published in Hypatia: A Journal of Feminist Philosophy and Ethics & the Environment.
